Professional Quality Assurance and PLATO open gaming software testing centre
July 24, 2019
Professional Quality Assurance Ltd. (PQA) and PLATO Testing (PLATO) are proud to officially open the Centre of Excellence in Software Testing in the heart of Canada's lottery and gaming industry.
PQA and PLATO are also celebrating the graduation of 11 Indigenous students who have successfully completed the PLATO Software Tester Training program. Upon their graduation, these 11 new IT professionals will begin full-time employment with PLATO, delivering testing services from our Centre in Sault Ste. Marie to our list of global clients, with a unique focus on the growing lottery and gaming industry.
The IT services training and employment model was developed by industry veteran Keith McIntosh, founder of PQA. In 2015, McIntosh established a second company, PLATO Testing, as a means to bring meaningful training and employment in the technology sector to Indigenous people while addressing the technology talent shortage in Canada. The PLATO approach develops skilled software testers through a unique six-month training and internship program, which is provided at no cost to trainees.
Chief of Garden River First Nation is expected to participate, while elected officials and representatives of Batchewana First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario are also expected to attend. We also expect elected officials and representatives from the Federal and Provincial governments to address attendees at the official opening and graduation, which will bring life to this ground-breaking new Centre.
Media are invited to attend the opening and graduation ceremony and will be given opportunities to interview students, company representatives and community partners. Join us to learn more about the progress PLATO is making toward economic reconciliation, providing software testing services and careers in the Lottery and Gaming industry.
